Raul Ruiz is an American physician and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 25th congressional district. Born in Mexico and raised in Coachella, California, he is the first Latino to earn three graduate degrees from Harvard University. Before entering politics, he worked as an emergency physician and served as a senior associate dean at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine. Since his election to Congress in 2012, Ruiz has focused on healthcare policy, veterans' affairs, and environmental restoration, notably advocating for the Salton Sea. He is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and co-chair of the Congressional Doctors Caucus.
