Ray Sorensen

Ray Sorensen is an American politician, artist, and businessman currently serving as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives for the 23rd district. Born in Creston and raised in Fontanelle, Iowa, he studied art at Iowa State University. Before entering politics, he worked as a graphic designer and co-owns Sorensen Studios, a photography and mural-painting business. He is widely known for creating the Freedom Rock, a series of patriotic murals painted on large boulders. First elected to the state legislature in 2018, Sorensen currently chairs the House Economic Growth Committee and was selected for the 2025–2026 Future Caucus Innovation Fellowship to promote bipartisan civic engagement.
