Richard Blumenthal is an American politician and attorney currently serving as the senior United States Senator from Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party, he has held this office since 2011. Prior to his Senate career, he served as the 23rd Attorney General of Connecticut for two decades, as well as a member of the Connecticut General Assembly and U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut. A graduate of Harvard and Yale Law School, Blumenthal is known for his extensive legal background and focus on consumer protection, antitrust litigation, and public advocacy.
