Ritsuko Fujii is a Japanese politician and nurse currently serving as the Mayor of Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in Tokuyama (now Shunan), she began her career as a nurse before entering politics following the death of her husband, a former prefectural assembly member. She served four terms in the Yamaguchi Prefectural Assembly, where she held leadership roles within the Liberal Democratic Party's prefectural chapter. In 2019, she was elected mayor of Shunan, a position to which she was re-elected in 2023. During her tenure, she has focused on municipal reform and fiscal management, including implementing salary reductions for city officials during the COVID-19 pandemic.
