Robert Golob is a Slovenian politician, engineer, and businessman currently serving as the Prime Minister of Slovenia. Before entering national politics, he held a distinguished career in the energy sector, notably co-founding and chairing the state-controlled energy trading company GEN-I. A PhD holder in electrical engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Golob previously served as State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and as a member of the Nova Gorica City Council. In 2022, he founded the Freedom Movement party and led it to victory in the parliamentary elections, subsequently forming a government that has focused on healthcare reform, the legalization of same-sex marriage, and an active foreign policy regarding the Middle East.
