Ron Kim is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Assembly for the 40th District, representing parts of Queens. First elected in 2012, he became the first Korean American elected to the New York State Legislature. Throughout his tenure, Kim has focused on small business advocacy, consumer protection, and housing issues, while also gaining national attention for his opposition to corporate subsidies and his criticism of state leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently chairs the Assembly Committee on Aging and has been a vocal proponent of policies aimed at reducing debt and supporting immigrant communities.
