Ryszard Petru is a Polish economist and politician serving as a Member of the Sejm. Educated at the Warsaw School of Economics, he built an extensive career as an economic analyst, consultant, and banking executive, serving as chief economist for several major financial institutions and advising government figures including Leszek Balcerowicz. Entering politics, he founded the liberal party Nowoczesna in 2015 and won election to the Sejm, later co-founding other political initiatives and returning to parliament representing the Third Way coalition. He is known for advocating free-market economic policies, deregulation, and fiscal conservatism.
