Sérgio Sousa Pinto

Sérgio Sousa Pinto is a Portuguese politician and lawyer who has served extensively in both national and European politics. Born in Lisbon, he studied law at the University of Lisbon and began his political career as leader of Socialist Youth. He served as a Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2009, sitting on committees dealing with civil liberties, justice, and constitutional affairs. He was also a longtime member of the Assembly of the Republic, representing the Socialist Party until 2025, and notably chaired the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Portuguese Communities.
