Saddam Azlan Salim is an American politician serving as a member of the Senate of Virginia for the 37th district. Born in Noakhali, Bangladesh, and a first-generation immigrant, he holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Public Administration from George Mason University. Before his election in 2023, he worked as a community organizer and served as the South Asians for State Co-Director for Virginia. Salim gained political prominence by defeating an incumbent in the 2023 Democratic primary and subsequently winning the general election.
