Sandip Verma, Baroness Verma

Sandip Verma, Baroness Verma is a British Indian politician and a life peer in the House of Lords. Born in Amritsar, India, she migrated to England as a child and later built a career in the fashion and residential care sectors. She has served in various government roles, including Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development and for the Department of Energy and Climate Change. A member of the Conservative Party, she has been a prominent advocate for women's rights, serving as the Ministerial Champion for Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Overseas and chairing the UN Women's national committee. In 2022, she was appointed Chancellor of the University of Roehampton.
