Sanford Dixon Bishop Jr. is an American politician and lawyer who has served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 2nd congressional district since 1993. A member of the Democratic Party and the moderate Blue Dog Coalition, Bishop has built a career focused on agricultural policy, notably advocating for federal price supports for peanuts. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia State Senate.
