Satoko Marutani is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Akashi in Hyogo Prefecture. Born in Kobe in 1963, she previously worked for the Hyogo Prefecture National Health Insurance Association and later served two terms as a member of the Akashi City Council. In 2023, she was elected mayor after being endorsed by her predecessor, Fusaho Izumi. Throughout her career, she has focused on local issues such as the establishment of public-private free schools and ecological conservation.
