Masashi Sato is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Kanagawa 16th district. Born in Osaki, Miyagi Prefecture, he graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law. Prior to his political career, he worked in international finance at Barclays Securities and Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities. Motivated by the belief that a strong economy is essential for a strong nation, he entered politics and was elected to the Diet in February 2026. His political platform includes opposition to selective separate surnames for married couples, support for stricter immigration and land acquisition regulations for foreign nationals, and a commitment to maintaining nuclear power. Outside of politics, he has a background in rakugo performance and is a father of one.
