Seán Canney

Seán Canney is an Irish independent politician who has served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway East constituency since 2016. A native of Belclare, he previously served on the Galway County Council and as Mayor of County Galway. In January 2025, he was appointed as a Minister of State at the Department of Transport. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal advocate for regional development, particularly the reopening of the Western Rail Corridor to improve connectivity in the west of Ireland.
