Senfronia Thompson

Senfronia Thompson is an American politician who has served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives since 1973, representing the 141st district. As the longest-serving African American and female lawmaker in Texas history, she currently holds the title of Dean of the House. Throughout her extensive career, she has championed various legislative initiatives, including the notable Texas puppy mill bill, and has been a prominent advocate for voting rights. Educated at Texas Southern University and the University of Houston, she continues to serve her constituents in northeast Houston and the Humble area.
