Shawn Christian

Shawn Brent Christian is a Pitcairnese politician currently serving as the Mayor of the Pitcairn Islands, a position he assumed in 2026. He previously held the office from 2014 to 2019. A descendant of Fletcher Christian, he studied in Newcastle, New South Wales, in the late 1990s. Christian's political career has been marked by controversy, including his 2004 conviction for child rape, for which he served a prison sentence. Despite his criminal record, he has been repeatedly elected to the mayoral office by the island's residents.
