Mamoru Shigemoto

Mamoru Shigemoto is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. After graduating from Kobe University and earning an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology, he worked for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. He entered national politics in 2017, representing the Liberal Democratic Party. Throughout his career, he has served as a Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Finance. Shigemoto supports Abenomics, the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities, and constitutional reform, while opposing the introduction of selective separate surnames for married couples.
