新関茂

Shigeru Niizeki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Tendo, Yamagata Prefecture. Born in 1957 in Tendo, he graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at Iwate University. Before his election as mayor in December 2024, he had a long career in the Tendo municipal government, serving in roles such as Director of the Mayor's Office and Deputy Mayor. His policy platform focuses on urban development centered around the Montedio Yamagata stadium, the implementation of free school lunches, the development of new industrial parks, and the restructuring of public transportation to address an aging society.
