Masafumi Kouki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Toyoake, Aichi Prefecture. A graduate of Kyoto University, he previously worked for Asahi Broadcasting, the Asahi Shimbun, and Tokyo Metropolitan Television, and held a public relations management role at Aeon Co., Ltd. before entering public service. He served as the deputy mayor of Toyoake before being elected mayor in 2015. During his tenure, he has implemented policies such as a partnership oath system for same-sex couples and a municipal ordinance encouraging limits on smartphone usage. He is known for his focus on administrative reform and has authored a book on public relations and media strategy.
