Shinpei Matsushita is a Japanese politician currently serving his fourth term as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Miyazaki Prefecture constituency. Born in 1966, he began his career as a local government official in Miyazaki before serving two terms in the Miyazaki Prefectural Assembly. After entering national politics in 2004, he held several key government positions, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and State Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications. Matsushita is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and has held various leadership roles within the party, including Chairman of the Special Committee on Digital Society and Artificial Intelligence in the House of Councillors.
