Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson is an Icelandic politician who currently serves as a member of the Althing and leader of the Centre Party. He previously served as the Prime Minister of Iceland from 2013 to 2016, becoming the youngest person to hold the office in the history of the Icelandic Republic. A former chairman of the Progressive Party, he founded the Centre Party in 2017. His political career has been marked by his involvement in the InDefence movement, his premiership during the post-financial crisis recovery, and his vocal opposition to European Union integration and certain climate change policies.
