Simon Lightwood is a British Labour and Co-operative Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Wakefield and Rothwell since 2024. Previously, he represented Wakefield following a 2022 by-election. In July 2024, he was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport. Before entering national politics, Lightwood worked as a case worker for an MP and held a communications role within the National Health Service. He is openly gay and resides in Ossett with his family.
