Sonia Hornery

Sonia Hornery is an Australian politician who has served as the Member for Wallsend in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since 2007. A member of the Labor Party, she was elected as Deputy Speaker in May 2023. Before entering parliament, she worked as a teacher and was active in the Teachers Federation and the Australian Services Union. Throughout her political career, she has been a vocal advocate for her constituents, notably campaigning against the privatization of public assets and raising concerns regarding medical standards and working conditions at local hospitals.
