Sonya Harper

Sonya Harper is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 6th district since 2015. Appointed to replace the late Esther Golar, she has focused her legislative work on agriculture, public safety, and economic equity. Harper is the Joint Chair of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and has served on numerous committees, including Agriculture & Conservation and Health Care Availability & Access. Prior to her legislative career, she worked as the owner of a public relations firm.
