Tiesler has served as the mayor of Hummelshain since 2010 and previously worked as a team leader at the municipal utilities of Jena. In the state parliament, he serves as the forestry and hunting policy spokesperson for the CDU faction and chairs the Saale-Holzland-Kreis works committee.
