Steve Aiken is a Northern Irish politician currently serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for South Antrim and as a Deputy Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly. A former officer in the Royal Navy, where he served for 32 years as a submariner and commanded nuclear-powered vessels, he transitioned into politics following a career as the founding CEO of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce. Aiken served as the leader of the Ulster Unionist Party from 2019 to 2021. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Defence Studies from King's College London.
