Stephen S. Hershey Jr. is an American politician serving as a member of the Maryland Senate for District 36 since 2013, where he has held the position of minority leader since 2023. Previously, he represented the same district in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2011 to 2013. A fiscal and social conservative, Hershey has focused his legislative career on deregulation, tax reduction, and education policy, including support for private school scholarships. Before entering politics, he worked in project management, commercial real estate, and served in the administrations of Governor Bob Ehrlich.
