Sukanta Majumdar is an Indian politician and academic who serves as a Member of the Lok Sabha representing the Balurghat constituency in West Bengal. A botanist by profession, he holds a Ph.D. and has contributed to numerous scientific publications. Majumdar entered national politics with the Bharatiya Janata Party and previously served as the president of the party's West Bengal unit from 2021 to 2025. In June 2024, he was appointed as the Union Minister of State for Education and the Union Minister of State for the Development of North Eastern Region in the Third Modi ministry.
