He was elected in the 2024 provincial election as a Pakistan Peoples Party candidate representing the PP-250 Bahawalpur-IV constituency, defeating the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Makhdoom Syed Iftikhar Hassan Gillani, and took his oath of office in February 2024.
