Previously, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives from the 9th district between 2017 and 2019 and represented the Michigan Senate's 3rd district from 2019 to 2022. Before entering politics, she spent over 15 years working in the finance sector for companies including Quicken Loans. Santana holds a bachelor's degree in business from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University. In 2020, she was recognized as the MIRS News Democratic Legislator of the Year for her legislative contributions.
