Takaaki Higuchi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Chiyoda Ward in Tokyo. Born in Nagano, he is the son of former Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police Department, Tateishi Higuchi. After graduating from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law, he worked for seven years at NTT DATA Institute of Management Consulting before pursuing graduate studies at National Taiwan University. He began his political career as a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly representing Chiyoda Ward. In 2021, he was elected Mayor of Chiyoda, becoming the youngest ward mayor in Tokyo at the time, and was subsequently re-elected in 2025 with broad support from multiple political parties.
