Mari Takagi is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Saitama Prefecture constituency. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, she worked at the Bank of Tokyo before entering politics as a secretary to Yukio Edano. She served two terms on the Saitama City Council and three terms in the Saitama Prefectural Assembly. Takagi is known for her progressive stances, including support for same-sex marriage, the introduction of a quota system for political representation, and opposition to constitutional revision. In 2024, she was appointed as the Shadow Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in the Constitutional Democratic Party's 'Next Cabinet'.
