Takahiro Sato is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Yamagata. Born in Hakodate, Hokkaido, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and began his career as a bureaucrat in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. After leaving the ministry, he worked in the private sector and as a researcher at the Tokyo Foundation. First elected as mayor in 2015, he has focused his administration on promoting Yamagata as a 'Health and Medical Advanced City,' implementing childcare support policies, and strengthening regional cooperation with Sendai. He is currently serving his third term in office.
