Tarique Rahman

Tarique Rahman is the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Born in Dhaka in 1968, he is the eldest son of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He rose through party ranks and served in leadership roles before spending several years in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom following legal challenges during the 2007-2008 caretaker government period. After his acquittals and return to Bangladesh, he led the Bangladesh Nationalist Party to a victory in the 2026 general election and assumed office as Prime Minister in February 2026.
