Tatsuya Ehara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Nagato in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in 1963 in the former Heki town, he graduated from Senshu University and spent many years working in the banking sector, including a tenure as a branch manager at Mizuho Bank. He entered local politics in 2017, winning a seat on the Nagato City Council. In 2019, he was elected Mayor of Nagato, defeating the incumbent, and was subsequently re-elected in 2023. Upon taking office, he demonstrated his commitment to fiscal reform by successfully proposing a 20 percent reduction in his own monthly salary.
