丸山達也

Tatsuya Maruyama is the Governor of Shimane Prefecture, having first been elected in 2019 and subsequently re-elected. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1970, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and began his career in the Ministry of Home Affairs (now the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). Before becoming governor, he held various administrative roles, including serving as Deputy Mayor of Iida City in Nagano Prefecture and working in the Shimane Prefectural Government. As governor, he has focused on regional development, population decline countermeasures, and industrial promotion, including the support of green and healthcare sectors. He is known for his direct approach to policy, often advocating for local interests and expressing strong views on national social security and economic policies.
