坂村哲也

Tetsuya Sakamura is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Shimotsuke City in Tochigi Prefecture. Born in 1979, he worked as an administrative staff member at Seigakuin University for 17 years following his graduation and studies in the United Kingdom. He entered politics in 2018, winning a seat on the Shimotsuke City Council to succeed his late father. After serving two terms on the council, he was elected mayor in July 2022. His political platform has focused on the enhancement of childcare and welfare services, as well as economic development and corporate attraction to the region.
