
Theo Bovens

Theo Bovens is a Dutch politician currently serving as a member of the Senate of the Netherlands, where he has acted as the leader of the Christian Democratic Appeal since June 2023. Born in Maastricht, he studied history at Radboud University Nijmegen. His extensive political career includes serving as the King's Commissioner of Limburg from 2011 to 2021 and as the acting mayor of Enschede. Previously, he was a member of the Maastricht municipal council and an alderman, and he held leadership roles at the Open University in the Netherlands. He is a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
