Thomas Roland Tillis is an American politician and businessman serving as a United States Senator from North Carolina since 2015. Previously, he served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015, where he held the position of Speaker of the House. A moderate Republican, Tillis has supported bipartisan legislation such as the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and the Respect for Marriage Act. Before entering politics, he had a successful career in consulting and technology management with firms including Price Waterhouse and IBM. He has announced that he will not seek reelection to a third term in 2026.
