Tina Kotek is an American politician serving as the 39th governor of Oregon since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2007 to 2022, including a historic nine-year tenure as speaker of the House, during which she became the first openly lesbian woman elected to lead a U.S. state legislative chamber. Throughout her career, Kotek has focused on housing policy, notably championing legislation to increase housing production and eliminate single-family-exclusive zoning across Oregon. She was elected governor in 2022 and continues to prioritize addressing the state's housing crisis through legislative investment and development reform.
