Toby Ann Stavisky

Toby Ann Stavisky is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Senate, representing the 11th district in Queens since 1999. She is the first woman from Queens County to be elected to the State Senate. Before entering politics, she worked in the insurance industry and as a high school social studies teacher. Throughout her legislative career, she has focused on education policy, currently serving as the Chairwoman of the Committee on Higher Education. Stavisky has been a proponent of progressive policies, including support for expanded healthcare access for unauthorized immigrants, and has navigated significant demographic shifts within her district over her tenure.
