Tohru Kurosu

Toru Kurosu is a Japanese politician and Shinto priest currently serving as the Mayor of Kakuda in Miyagi Prefecture. Born in Kakuda in 1964, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kokugakuin University. Before entering politics, he trained at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu and served as a chief priest for several shrines. Kurosu began his political career as a member of the Kakuda City Council, serving two terms from 2015 to 2020. He was first elected Mayor of Kakuda in 2020 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, and he was re-elected unopposed in 2024.
