A professor of medical sciences, he previously held the position of Marshal of the Senate from 2019 to 2023. Before entering national politics, he was a long-time city councilor in Szczecin and a prominent medical professional, serving as the director of the Professor Alfred Sokołowski Specialist Hospital. He is a member of the Civic Platform party and currently leads the Civic Coalition group in the Senate.
