Tomonobu Shimizu is a Japanese politician and former professional boxer currently serving as a member of the Fukui Prefectural Assembly. Born in Fukui City, he had a distinguished athletic career, becoming the 51st Japanese flyweight champion in 2008 and the 20th WBA world super flyweight champion in 2011. After retiring from professional boxing in 2012, he transitioned into politics, where he has been elected three times to the prefectural assembly and served as its 111th Vice-Chairman. He is dedicated to regional development, education reform, and promoting sports in his home prefecture.
