Tomoya Yamamoto is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Mutsu in Aomori Prefecture. Born in Mutsu, he graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at Hosei University. Before entering politics, he worked for the Mutsu City government, holding positions in the Board of Education, the Finance Division, the General Strategy Division, and as a mayoral secretary. He was first elected to the Aomori Prefectural Assembly in 2019 as an independent candidate, later joining the Liberal Democratic Party faction. In 2023, he successfully ran for Mayor of Mutsu following the resignation of his predecessor, Soichiro Miyashita, who stepped down to run for governor.
