Toshihiko Ota is a Japanese politician currently serving his fourth term as the Mayor of Toyota, Aichi Prefecture. Born in Toyota in 1954, he graduated from Waseda University and spent his early career as a civil servant within the Toyota City government, eventually rising to the position of General Planning Department Director. First elected mayor in 2012, Ota has focused on urban revitalization, environmental sustainability, and child-rearing support, including the implementation of free school lunches and expanded medical subsidies. He is also known for his leadership in hosting the World Rally Championship (Rally Japan) and promoting the city's 'Zero Carbon City' initiative.
