Toshio Sasaki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Bungotakada City in Oita Prefecture. Born in 1942, he previously served eight terms as a member of the Oita Prefectural Assembly, including a tenure as its chairman. Since his election as mayor in 2017, he has focused on population growth and regional revitalization, implementing policies such as free school lunches, subsidized medical care for students, and the provision of free residential land to attract new residents. In 2025, he became the oldest serving mayor in Japan. His administration also introduced a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2023.
