Travis Nelson is an American politician and nurse serving as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives for the 44th district since 2022. A member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, he is the first openly LGBTQ+ African American to serve in the Oregon Legislature. Nelson has championed progressive legislation focused on reproductive rights, healthcare access, labor protections, and racial justice. Before his legislative career, he worked as a nurse and served as a union representative for the Oregon Nurses Association.
