Trenton Barnhart is an American politician serving as a member of the West Virginia Senate. Appointed to the Senate in 2026 by Governor Patrick Morrisey, he previously served in the West Virginia House of Delegates after being appointed to that body in 2019. A graduate of the University of Charleston with a B.A. and an M.B.A., Barnhart worked as a community banker and compliance auditor prior to his legislative career. Politically, he is a member of the National Rifle Association and has advocated for gun rights, including sponsoring legislation to declare West Virginia a Second Amendment sanctuary state. He is a Christian and has been active in local Republican party committees.
