Tshering Tshomo

Tshering Tshomo is a Bhutanese politician, teacher, and businesswoman. Born in c. 1983 in Sonamthang, Zhemgang District, she graduated with a degree in education from Paro College of Education and worked as a teacher before entering politics. During the 2023 election, she was directly elected as the lone female member to the fourth National Council of Bhutan, representing Zhemgang District. She campaigned on reducing high poverty rates through eco-tourism and has since advocated for introducing political quotas to ensure adequate female representation in Bhutanese governance.
